Fauci’s Replacement at NIAID a Cheerleader for Gain-of-Function Research
Jeffrey Taubenberger, a 19-year veteran of NIAID who supports gain-of-function research and believes COVID-19 evolved naturally, is the new acting director of the agency Dr. Anthony Fauci led for 38 years.
Jeffery Taubenberger, M.D., Ph.D., a 19-year veteran of NIAID and chief of the institute’s Viral Pathogenesis and Evolution Section, replaced Dr. Jeanne Marrazzo, who was placed on leave last month by the Trump administration.
Citing an email from Dr. Matthew Memoli, deputy director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Science reported that Taubenberger’s first day as acting director was April 25. Taubenberger will head an institute with a $6.56 billion budget, making it the second-largest NIH branch, overseen by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Several researchers told Science that Taubenberger has a commendable track record, highlighting his work sequencing the Spanish flu virus of 1918.
Adolfo Garcia-Sastre, Ph.D., a virologist at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, said Taubenberger “has made many critical contributions to the field of influenza, both in pathogenesis, animal models, human data, and vaccines.”
But critics point to Taubenberger’s public support of gain-of-function research and the zoonotic theory of COVID-19’s origins, which holds that the virus crossed over naturally from animals to humans.

There truly is nothing new under the sun.
We already got a taste of bad replacements when Mandy Cohen replaced Rochelle Walensky as CDC director. Walensky pushed masks, criticized herd immunity, was one of the worst purveyors of misinformation, failed to report her financial conflicts of interest, and was behind officially naming and shaming the “pandemic of the unvaccinated,” based upon data the CDC manipulated.
According to NBC, at least three major medical journals—CHEST, the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), and Obstetrics and Gynecology—have received letters from the U.S. Department of Justice questioning their editorial practices. The letters, sent by interim U.S. Attorney Ed Martin, raised legitimate concerns about bias, lack of transparency, and whether these journals fairly presented competing scientific viewpoints—especially on topics like COVID-19 policies and treatments.
While some journals pushed back—claiming editorial independence—others, like The Lancet, which apparently did not yet receive a letter, went so far as to label the inquiries “harassment.”
For years, we have seen top-tier journals prioritize ideology over open scientific debate. In fact, most of the major publishers, including Elsevier, Springer Nature, Wiley, Sage Publications and Taylor & Francis, have formed a cartel under the International Association of Scientific, Technical, and Medical Publishers. The Cartel controls two-thirds of global journal publications, enforces unpaid peer reviews, restricts manuscript submissions, and delays scientific progress—all to protect their multi-billion-dollar profits. It gives legal protection from lawsuit or liability for ‘covered persons’ utilizing ‘covered countermeasures,’ which are military terms. The HHS secretary simply writes a letter and every one and everything is immune from liability.
It gives unlimited authority to the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) to decide if there’s an emergency and what countermeasures are to be used (drugs, devices, biological products (vaccines).
There doesn’t have to be any clinical trial, studies, or data showing these countermeasures to be ‘safe and effective.’ There doesn’t have to be any follow up or quality control.

NIH Says It Will Build Health Data Platform Linking Health Records, Genomic Profiles, and Smartwatch Data for Medical Research
A sprawling new database blending genomic profiles, insurance claims, and fitness tracker logs is quietly redefining what medical privacy means in America.
The National Institutes of Health is quietly assembling a vast digital mosaic of Americans’ private medical histories, pulling sensitive data from both government-run health systems and commercial sources to support autism research tied to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s latest project.
The new scheme involves a sweeping plan to integrate diverse streams of health data into a single platform, raising significant concerns about privacy, oversight, and long-term use.
According to NIH Director Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, the data aggregation includes pharmacy transactions, insurance claims, clinical test results, and even personal metricscollected from wearable tech such as fitness trackers and smartwatches.
This is not the “autism registry” that has been reported to developed, something the Department of Health and Human Services has denied.
Instead of a traditional registry, what the government calls a “real-world data platform” will be established. This platform will link data to support research into the causes of Autism.
Health information from the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Indian Health Service is also being funneled in, creating a massive, centralized repository with a wide lens on the US population.
As Bhattacharya told agency advisers on Monday, the objective is to eliminate the fragmentation that currently limits access to existing health data sets. He said the new system would cut down on redundancies and make it easier for researchers to conduct large-scale analysis.
“The idea of the platform is that the existing data resources are often fragmented and difficult to obtain. The NIH itself will often pay multiple times for the same data resource. Even data resources that are within the federal government are difficult to obtain,” he said.

“The controversy in Lyme disease research is a shameful affair. I say that because the whole thing is politically tainted. Money goes to people that have for the past 30 years produced the same thing. Nothing. Serology or serology plus has to be started from scratch with people that don’t know beforehand the results of their research.
Sadly, current research is taking the same old tack that people are simply struggling with inflammation (PTLDS) – not an active infection. While this is always true, it is often only a partial truth, with active infection being the driver to the inflammation. In other words, treat the infection and symptoms get better or go away entirely. If only inflammation is treated, symptoms will continue until the infection(s) is/are dealt with. And this brings up another point entirely dismissed by mainstream research and medicine: this is commonly a polymicrobial issue – meaning more than one infectious organism is involved requiring yet more savvy, complex treatments. The patient in the video doesn’t mention this at all making me wonder if she even knows about coinfections; however, I’ve done enough media interviews to understand that everything has to be condensed down into a two minute sound-bite which is impossible with a complex topic like Lyme/MSIDS.
