LYME DISEASE CAUSES DIAPHRAGM PARALYSIS, RESULTING IN BREATHING PROBLEMS

lyme-disease-breathing-problems

In a letter to the editor, entitled “Atypical presentation of Lyme disease,” Jarosińska and colleagues describe a unique case of a diaphragm paralysis caused by Lyme disease. [1]

According to the authors, diaphragm paralysis as a complication of Lyme disease was first reported in 1986. Since then, there have only been 4 cases involving bilateral paralysis of the diaphragm, which can cause breathing problems in patients.  “… the presented case will be the fifth described case of bilateral diaphragmatic paralysis in the course of probable Lyme neuroborreliosis.”

Patients with this condition experience weakness of the diaphragm and “have reduced breathing capabilities or are unable to control their voluntary breathing. They also have difficulty maintaining adequate gas exchange, as the lungs are not able to inhale and exhale outside air as efficiently.”²

Lyme disease causes breathing problems

A 64-year-old man exhibited symptoms of acute respiratory failure when lying on his back and complained of dyspnea, breathing difficult during sleep, and pain in the cervical spine, which had been ongoing for about one month.

“Upon admission, physical examination revealed tachypnea, a thoracic breathing pattern, and increased respiratory effort with the activation of accessory respiratory muscles, without any signs of an acute respiratory infection,” the authors state.

A cardiac exam revealed bilateral phrenic nerve palsy and the patient was transferred to the neurology department for further testing, which revealed no significant abnormalities.

Infectious Disease Testing

“The diagnostic process was broadened and serological analysis was carried out to test for a number of antibodies,” including those specific to Lyme disease, the authors state.

Test results were positive for Lyme disease. However, there was no history of a tick bite.

“Hence, the patient was diagnosed with bilateral phrenic nerve palsy in the course of probable Lyme neuroborreliosis,” the authors state.

The patient was treated with IV ceftriaxone, followed by oral doxycycline.

“During the hospitalization, partial clinical improvement was achieved and the patient was discharged home in a stable condition without any respiratory support.”

According to the authors, “palsy of the phrenic nerve in the course of [Lyme neuroborreliosis] is a rare and unique symptom.”

However, “it seems reasonable to consider serological diagnostics for Lyme disease in patients with diaphragmatic paralysis of undetermined etiology.”

Antibodies to Borrelia burgdorferi and Bartonella species in serum and synovial fluid from people with rheumatic diseases

Authors:

Abstract and Figures

Vector-borne infections may underlie some rheumatic diseases, particularly in people with joint effusions. This study aimed to compare serum and synovial fluid antibodies to B. burgdorferi and Bartonella spp. in patients with rheumatic diseases. This observational, cross-sectional study examined paired synovial fluid and serum specimens collected from 110 patients with joint effusion between October 2017 and January 2022. Testing for antibodies to B. burgdorferi (using CDC criteria) and Bartonella spp. via two indirect fluorescent antibody (IFA) assays was performed as part of routine patient care at the Institute for Specialized Medicine (San Diego, CA, USA). There were 30 participants (27%) with positive two-tier B. burgdorferi serology and 26 participants (24%) with IFA seroreactivity (≥1:256) to B. henselae and/or B. quintana. Both B. burgdorferi IgM and IgG were detected more frequently in synovial fluid than serum: 27% of patients were either IgM or IgG positive in synovial fluid, compared to 15.5% in serum (P = 0.048). Conversely, B. henselae and B. quintana antibodies were detected more frequently in serum than synovial fluid; overall only 2% of patients had positive IFA titers in synovial fluid, compared to 24% who had positive IFA titers in serum (P < 0.001). There were no significant associations between B. burgdorferi or Bartonella spp. seroreactivity with any of the clinical rheumatological diagnoses. This study provides preliminary support for the importance of synovial fluid antibody testing for documenting exposure to B. burgdorferi but not for documenting exposure to Bartonella spp.
IMPORTANCE This study focuses on diagnostic testing for two common vector-borne diseases in an affected patient population. In it, we provide data showing that antibodies to B. burgdorferi, but not Bartonella spp., are more commonly found in synovial fluid than serum of patients with joint effusion. Since Lyme arthritis is a common—and sometimes difficult to diagnose—rheumatic disease, improving diagnostic capabilities is of utmost importance. While our findings are certainly not definitive for changes to practice, they do suggest that synovial fluid could be a useful sample for the clinical diagnosis of Lyme disease, and future prospective studies evaluating this claim are warranted.

“Not Now” on the Surrender of Our Sovereignty to the WHO

At the end of May, President Biden intends to join other nations in supplanting our Constitution and the liberties it guarantees with something called “global governance.” Their plan, which has been stealthily negotiated for several years at the World Health Organization (WHO), would permit no informed debate – let alone require the approval of the American people with regard to turning over to Tedros Ghebreyesus, the WHO’s Director-General, the exclusive responsibility to decide when we have a “public health emergency of international concern” and what we must do about it.

We have already had a taste of what such a surrender of our sovereignty would entail. Even though Dr. Ghebreyesus is not a medical doctor, he was allowed to prescribe what the United States and every other nation ought to do in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. And his advice – which was to mask up, lock-down and take mandatory jabs with experimental and inadequately tested “vaccines” – proved disastrous. By some estimates, a million Americans who contracted COVID needlessly died because of Ghebreyesus’ malfeasance.

Clearly, it would be insane to give this Maoist foreign bureaucrat, who was selected for his job by the Chinese Communist Party, the power to dictate public health policy in our country.  But, that is what will happen if two treaties now being finalized are put to a vote by the World Health Assembly in just a few weeks’ time. We need your help to prevent that from happening under present circumstances and to preserve our sovereignty and your medical freedom.

Join us in telling President Biden: “Not Now.” The vote on the two treaties scheduled for the May 27 to June 2 World Health Assembly must be delayed.  Final drafts should have been circulated on January 27, yet the final texts are still being negotiated.  You don’t want him binding us to a “global governance” arrangement without an informed national debate about these two, deeply problematic treaties and absent the U.S. Senate advising and consenting to them.

Capital Hill Press Conference Opposing WHO

On April 19, 2024, Members of the U.S. Senate and House, together with leaders of the Sovereignty Coalition, held a Capitol Hill press conference to voice their opposition to the imminent adoption of two World Health Organization (WHO) treaties that are set to be agreed to in just 37 days.  Participants denounced the Biden administration’s intention to approve these treaties that surrender U.S. sovereignty, compromise states’ rights, and undermine, if not terminate, constitutionally guaranteed freedoms.

They also presented new poll results showing likely voters’ strong opposition to the sorts of treaties being stealthily negotiated in Geneva. Coalition representatives announced a new “Not Now” emergency campaign aimed at heightening public awareness of the WHOs plans with the goal of deferring the international approval of those accords and requiring the U.S. Senate to provide its advice and consent prior to the Biden Administrations assent the Pandemic Treaty and amendments to the International Health Regulations.

Those participating included Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI), Representatives Ralph Norman (SC-5), Bob Good (VA-5), Chris Smith (NJ-4), Andy Biggs (AZ-5), Chip Roy (TX-21), Matt Rosendale (MT-2), Paul Gosar (AZ-9), Tom Tiffany (WI-7) and Scott Perry (PA-10) and the Sovereignty Coalition’sMatt Schlapp (Chairman of the Conservative Political Action Coalition), Jenny Beth Martin (President, Tea Party Patriots Action), Tony Perkins (President, Family Research Council), Kris Ullman (President, Eagle Forum), Reggie Littlejohn (President, Women’s Rights Without Frontiers and Anti-Globalist International) and Frank Gaffney  (Executive Chairman, Center for Security Policy).

Notably, the Sovereignty Coalition released the results of a new national poll of 1,000 likely voters conducted last week by McLaughlin and Associates. As Senator Johnson observed, when asked “Do you want decisions about your health made by people you elect, or an international official appointed by the Chinese Communist Party?” respondents preferred our present system over the “global governance” alternative by a margin of nearly 75 to 9 percent. They also expressed a preference for a candidate who wants the Senate to approve the WHO treaties over one that doesn’t by a 64 to 16 percent margin.

The Coalition encourages patriotic Americans to learn more about the Biden administration’s plan to surrender our sovereignty and prevent the Senate from performing its constitutional duty of quality control on the two WHO treaties by visiting SovereigntyCoalition.org and join its “Not Now” Campaign at once. There is literally not a moment to lose.

States Move to Oppose WHO’s ‘Pandemic Treaty,’ Assert States’ Rights

Utah and Florida passed laws intended to prevent the WHO from overriding states’ authority on matters of public health policy, and Louisiana and Oklahoma have legislation set to take effect soon pending final votes. Several other states are considering similar bills.

Go here to watch how Japan is fighting against WHO Pandemic Treaty and the deadly mRNA gene therapy shots

They are also launching a class action lawsuit for the families who lost loved ones to the deadly clot shots and for those whose lives have been destroyed.

Medical professor of Osaka City University School, Masayasu Inoue, has recently delivered a warning to the world that Japan has contracted with the W.H.O. to develop a new vaccine for disease X, which is expected to be deployed worldwide later this year.

"Withdraw from the WHO.

When disease X occurs in the future, you should never
trust the Japanese made vaccine.” ~ Masayasu Inoue

A final draft of the Pandemic Treaty is expected to be presented for adoption at the 77th World Health Assembly in May 2024, which will undoubtedly be setting the world up for another planned assault under the guise of world health.

Kaiser Permanente: Data Breach May Impact 13.4 Million Customers

Data shared with third-party vendors potentially includes member names and IP addresses.
4/30/2024

Health care service provider Kaiser Permanente has revealed roughly 13.4 million people in the United States may have been impacted by a data security incident that occurred earlier this month.

In a filing with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Office for Civil Rights, the Oakland, California-headquartered conglomerate said the data breach occurred on April 12 and impacted its Kaiser Permanente Foundation Health Plan members.

More than 12.5 million people were enrolled in those health plans as of Dec. 31, 2023, according to the organization’s website.

However, the filing with HHS states that approximately 13.4 million members may have been impacted by the recent breach.

Kaiser Permanente added that the data breach was related to unauthorized access and disclosure of information, although a spokesperson for the health care giant told Reuters that it had not identified any cases of misuse of data.  (See link for article)

______________

**Comment**

This is the largest health data breach reported to HHS so far in 2024.  Two years prior, another Kaiser Permanente data breach involved unauthorized access which had exposed the health information of 69,000 people. In that breach an employee’s email account containing patients’ protected health information was accessed by an unauthorized individual, leading to patient full names, medical records, dates of service, and lab test results information potentially being exposed.

But, a February breach at UnitedHealth Group  during which the health insurer said hackers AlphV or BlackCat stole a potentially “substantial proportion” of health and personal data from individuals may exceed the current breach as the official number of patients impacted has not been released.
