The Bleeding Edge: behind the terrifying new Netflix documentary

The $400bn medical device industry is exposed in a horrifying look at a string of products that have wreaked havoc on patients

A terrifying new documentary carries a stark warning that a nightmare has been lurking in the medical industry for decades and it might be in your body.

The Bleeding Edge, which premieres on Netflix, examines the $400bn medical device industry responsible for products such as hip implants and robotic surgeons, through the lens of five products that have wreaked havoc on the lives of thousands.

“A wide range of people know about the problems with pharmaceuticals, but very few people know about the medical device industry and the fact that it is even less regulated than pharmaceuticals,” director Kirby Dick told the Guardian. “We felt it was very important that the public, doctors and policymakers know about this because right now medical device companies can get away with just about anything.”

Stephen Tower, an orthopedic doctor profiled in the film, had developed a tremor and was having a hard time thinking when he decided to scrawl all over the walls and ceiling of a hotel room during a medical conference, eventually using soap as ink.

Tower, his friends and family knew he was in the throes of mental health crisis, but no one was sure why. So, Tower studied himself until he found the answer in a blood and urine sample: his levels of cobalt, a metal used in rechargeable batteries, were more than a hundred times higher than normal.

Tower thought it might be related to his metal-on-metal hip replacement and had it redone. On the operating table, his surgeon found metal sludge seeping from the device before it was removed. “Within a month I had an incredible recovery in terms of my psychologic symptoms and ability to think,” Tower said.

Tower said he would never have believed neurological problems could come from orthopedic devices, if it wasn’t for that experience, and now tests the cobalt levels of his patients if they complain of having Parkinson’s or dementia-like symptoms.

Hundreds of thousands of people in the world may have been exposed to toxic metals from “metal on metal” hip implants, according to a 2012 joint investigation by the British Medical Journal and BBC Newsnight.

“If we can’t change the laws and we can’t convince companies to put moral issues above profits, then all of us really have to be vigilant,” said The Bleeding Edge’s producer, Amy Ziering. “My great hope is you watch this film and then you are really, really, really careful and ask a lot of questions and do a lot of research.”

A number of factors are responsible for the catastrophes captured in the film, but the documentary lasers in on the FDA’s 510(k) pathway for approving medical devices.

To approve a prescription drug, medicine must be tested in humans, the manufacturer must compile data on its effects and a panel of FDA scientists must give it final approval.

The same process is not required for medical devices. Those can be approved if the manufacturer demonstrates that it is equivalent to a device on the market – even if the device it is being compared to has been recalled.

“Even if we take these five devices that we focus on the film off, the problem isn’t solved,” warned Ziering. “It’s a system that needs to be much more vigilantly regulated.”

Despite the frightening situations depicted in The Bleeding Edge, portraits of hope come from people fighting back.

A week before the film was released, Bayer announced it would stop selling one of the devices targeted in the film: Essure, a coiled birth control implant that is inserted into the fallopian tubes through the uterus.

Women in the film who had the implant complain of persistent pain, bleeding and unintended pregnancies. They include Gaby Avina, a former spokeswoman for the device who had taken part in the original clinical trial for Essure. She said her health deteriorated after being implanted with the device.

On Friday afternoon last week, Bayer announced it would stop selling Essure at the end of 2018.

Bayer emphasized it decided to stop selling Essure for “business reasons”. The company said several factors had made it less popular among US women, including “inaccurate and misleading publicity about the device”.

As The Bleeding Edge depicts, that bad publicity has been driven largely by tens of thousands of women gathered in the Essure Problems Facebook group.

These women stage protests at medical conferences and Bayer’s headquarters (including one earlier this month) and hold in-person support groups for women who believe they have been harmed by the device.

Ziering and Dick said they were elated to see the product would no longer be sold less than one week before The Bleeding Edge’s release.

“It’s really a tribute to all the women and all the work they’ve done,” Dick said. “It’s also a tribute to the power of documentary.”

But this success is not enough for either film-maker and they hope the public, lawmakers and medical community will push for change in the industry.

Dick said: “Millions of people have been harmed by medical devices and millions more will if nothing is done.”

  • The Bleeding Edge will be available on Netflix on 27 July

FDA Acquiring ‘Fresh’ Aborted Baby Parts to Make Mice With Human Immune Systems

**UPDATE**

Go here to listen to a brief interview with ICAN attorney Adam Siri explain how fetal cell lines are used for manufacturing viral vaccines.

“In every single dose of an MMR shot, there are literally, literally, millions of pieces from the cultured cell line of an aborted fetus.  In every single injection.

“Each body part……they chop them up in little cubes and then they try and culture viruses on them, because they want to see which part of the body is the best suited for growing the virus used in the vaccine. ~ Adam Siri, ICAN attorney

https://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/terence-p-jeffrey/fda-acquiring-fresh-aborted-baby-parts-make-mice-human-immune-systems

By Terence P. Jeffrey | August 7, 2018 | 11:48 AM EDT

(CNSNews.com) – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration signed a new contract on July 25 to acquire “fresh” human fetal tissue to transplant into “humanized mice” so that these mice will have a functioning “human immune system,” according to information published by the FDA and the General Services Administration.

“The objective is to acquire Tissue for Humanized Mice,” said a June 13 FDA “presolicitation notice” for the contract.

The contractor, the notice said, would “provide the human fetal tissue needed to continue the ongoing research being led by FDA.

“Fresh human tissues are required,” said the notice, “for implantation into severely immune-compromised mice to create chimeric animals that have a human immune system.”

According to GSA’s federal contract database, Advanced Bioscience Resources (ABR), a non-profit organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area, was awarded this $15,900 contract, which will run through July 25, 2019.

“Fetal tissue used in research is obtained from elective abortions,” says the Congressional Research Service.

In 2016, Harvard University provided the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives with a background paper explaining that mice with human immune systems “are engineered to this condition only by means of the use of human fetal material” and that this material can only come from aborted babies not from miscarriages. (See the Harvard backgrounder by clicking here.)

Thus, by issuing a contract to acquire human fetal tissue to use in making mice with human immune systems, the FDA is using federal tax dollars to create a demand for human body parts that must be taken from babies who are aborted.

Because it would not be able to create its “humanized mice” without fresh tissue taken from aborted babies, the FDA also has an interest in the continuation of legalized abortions at a stage in fetal development when the tissue needed to create these mice can be retrieved from the aborted baby.

The above graphic (see link to article) depicting the creation of a humanized mouse was included in a November 2016 FDA presentation posted on the FDA’s website.

While the FDA confirmed to CNSNews.com that its June 13 presolicitation notice for a contract to “acquire Tissue for Humanized Mice” and the July 25 contract it signed with ABR (as reported on the GSA contract database) refer to the same deal, the FDA declined to answer 17 other questions CNSNews.com asked it about that contract and the aborted baby parts it requires the contractor to provide. (See the full set of questions CNSNews.com sent to the FDA by clicking here.)

Instead the FDA provided CNSNews.com with a three-paragraph statement. (See the FDA’s full statement by clicking here.)

In its specific questions, CNSNews.com asked the FDA to disclose:

  • The total number of babies expected to donate their tissue to the FDA to create humanized mice during the year-long duration of the contract.
  • Whether the FDA needed to know that the abortion of a donor baby was taking place so FDA researchers could be prepared to implant this baby’s “fresh” tissue into mice in a timely manner.
  • What the minimum and maximum gestational ages of the babies must be to provide the tissue needed to create these “humanized mice.”
  • Whether there were any methods of abortion that could not be used to terminate the babies whose tissue would be used by the FDA to create humanized mice because that method would cause the tissue to be damaged or spoiled in a way that would make it unsuitable for this research.

The FDA also would not answer this question: “Are the mothers who agree to donate the tissue from their unborn babies for this FDA research informed that tissue taken from their aborted baby will be transplanted into a mouse?”

In its statement to CNSNews.com, the FDA stressed that it was committed to making certain its research followed “all legal requirements” and met “the highest ethical standards.”

“The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is committed to ensuring that its research is conducted responsibly, conforms with all legal requirements, and meets the highest ethical standards,” said the FDA statement.

“At the FDA, research involving human fetal tissue accounts for a very small fraction of the FDA’s total research and has been used in situations where it is critical to understanding how the human immune system responds to certain drugs and biologics,” the statement said. “This work has led to a better understanding of a number of conditions and diseases that affect millions of Americans.

“The FDA’s researchers obtain fetal tissue from a non-profit Tissue Procurement Organization (TPO) that have [sic] provided assurances that they are in compliance with all applicable legal requirements, including relevant provisions relating to research involving human fetal tissue,” said the statement.

“FDA is not involved in the TPO’s sourcing of the tissue,” it said.

“In addition,” the statement continued, “the FDA has in place systems to ensure FDA research using fetal tissue, as well as any research funded by FDA, is in compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulations and guidelines, as well as FDA policies.”

Since 2012, according to the GSA’s Federal Procurement Data System, the FDA has signed eight contracts with ABR, including the one signed July 25. Seven of these expressly cite “Humanized Mice,” “Human Fetal Tissue” or “Tissue Procurement for Humanized Mice” in the contract’s “description of requirement.” The eighth simply says: “Human Tissue.”

The “description of requirement” for the latest contract is only two words long. It says: “Humanized Mice.”

The FDA’s most recent prior contract with ABR ran from July 13, 2017 to July 12, 2018. It carried this description: “Tissue Procurement for Humanized Mice—other functions.”

Before that, the FDA had a contract with ABR that ran from May 10, 2016 to May 15, 2017. Its description of requirement said: “Human Fetal Tissue (Liver/Thymus).”

This screen capture (see article link) from the GSA database listing of the contract that the FDA signed with ABR on May 10, 2016 has as the description of requirement “Human Fetal Tissue (Liver/Thymus)”

The FDA’s June 13 presolicitation notice contended that Advanced Biosciences Resources was the only organization that could fulfill the new contract.

“ABR is the only company in the U.S. capable of supplying tissue suitable for HM research. No other company or organization is capable of fulfilling the need,” the FDA notice said.

“The government intends to solicit and negotiate directly with Advanced Bioscience Resources (ABR) Inc., and no solicitation will be issued,” it said.

“The objective is to acquire Tissue for Humanized Mice,” it said.

“ABR is the only company that can provide the human fetal tissue needed to continue the ongoing research being led by the FDA,” said this FDA notice. “Fresh human tissues are required for implantation into severely combined immune-compromised mice to create chimeric animals that have a human immune system. This human immune system allows us to test biological drug products for safety and efficacy. This is necessary because these drug products do not bind non-human species drug targets.”

CNSNews.com sent ABR the same set of questions it asked the FDA. However, ABR did not respond.

In investigative reports published in December 2016, the Senate Judiciary Committee and the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives discussed ABR’s actions in providing researchers with human fetal tissue retrieved from aborted babies. These actions included having ABR technicians working inside abortion clinics operated by Planned Parenthood affiliates.

“Advance Bioscience Resources, Inc. (ABR) describes itself as ‘a non-profit corporate foundation established in 1989 under California law to provide biomedical researchers with access to human tissues,” said the Judiciary Committee report. “ABR ‘specializes in the procurement, preservation, and distribution of both human fetal tissue and full umbilical cord blood for research.”

“For the period covering 2005 to the present, ABR informed the committee that it obtained fetal tissue from two Planned Parenthood affiliates, as well as from seven other independent clinics,” said the committee report.

“ABR technicians working at the Planned Parenthood clinics obtain the fetuses from the Planned Parenthood staff and then harvest and immediately ship the fetal tissue specimens,” said the report. “The fetal tissue is never stored or otherwise in the possession of ABR.”

“As ABR’s attorneys stated,” the report said, “‘For purposes of actual procurement, ABR’s employees primarily work at a counter in each affiliate’s laboratory and are able to access various instruments and supplies from the assigned cabinets and/or refrigerators in the lab, or from the basement. ABR personnel may also access common areas as well as the recovery room to draw blood, as necessary.’”

The FDA has published materials on its website and in a scientific journal indicating that it uses human thymus and liver to create its “humanized mice.”

For example, a group of scientists from the FDA’s Division of Applied Regulatory Science (DARS) published an article in Therapeutic Innovation & Regulatory Science on July 21, 2017 that discussed the FDA’s use of humanized mice engrafted with human immune systems like the mice described in the FDA’s contract notice.

A graphic in this article—“Making a Mouse with a Human Immune System”—shows how a “severely immune-compromised mouse” is implanted with “human thymus and liver tissue” and injected with “human stem cells” derived from a human liver to create “a mouse with a ‘humanized’ immune system.”

The FDA published a similar graphic in an internal presentation made in November 2016 that included a section on the FDA’s use of “Humanized Mouse Models.” Yet another similar, if simpler, graphic is posted on the FDA’s website.

This graphic of a humanized mouse is posted on the FDA’s website.  (See article link)

As previously reported by CNSNews.com, government researchers working for the National Institutes of Health created similar “humanized mice” using livers and thymuses taken from babies aborted at 17 to 22 weeks gestational age.

These NIH researchers published an article in the Journal of Immunological Methods that indicated that Advanced Bioscience Resources—the FDA’s fetal tissue contractor—had provided them with the livers and thymuses they needed to make their humanized mice.

The NIH scientists said in this journal article that they “routinely produced cohorts of approximately 40” humanized mice “from a single tissue donor”—n.b. a single aborted baby.

At a Sept. 24, 2007 workshop sponsored by the NIH—“The New Humanized Rodent Model Workshop”—a federally funded scientist described a type of humanized mouse given a human immune system by implanting it with “human fetal liver and thymus” taken from babies who were 20 to 24 weeks gestational age. The federally funded scientist indicated at this NIH workshop: “A single donor provides sufficient tissue to implant 50–60 mice.”

In fiscal 2018, the NIH—which is a separate entity from the FDA but also a part of the Department of Health and Human Services–estimates it will spend $103 million on human fetal tissue research. In fiscal 2017, it spent $98 million.

On Sept. 14, 2017, the House of Representatives passed an omnibus appropriations bill that included language pushed by Rep. Martha Roby (R.-Ala.) and other pro-life House members that would have prohibited federal funding of research that uses tissue from aborted babies. This language, however, was not included in any of the spending bills that ultimately passed the Senate and were signed into law for fiscal 2018.

In July, the House Appropriations Committee approved a bill to fund the Department of Health and Human Services for fiscal 2019. That bill—like last year’s version–includes language that prohibits federal funding of research that uses human fetal tissue obtained through an abortion.

For that language to become law, however, it would need to be included in a funding bill that is passed by both the House and Senate and signed by President Donald Trump.

I’m not even going to delve into the ethics issue as it’s so glaring it blinds the eyes; however, what I am going to touch upon is the use of chimeric mice.

Nearly every Lyme/MSIDS patient understands that mice are the most common vector of tick borne illnesses.  (If you don’t think so then why would Kevin Esvelt want to release thousands of GMO mice on Nantucket?  https://madisonarealymesupportgroup.com/2016/06/21/first-frankenbugs-now-frankinmice/)  Many of these pathogens are nearly undetectable, so even if mice are raised supposedly “disease free,” for lab purposes, never forget the retrovirus debacle:  https://madisonarealymesupportgroup.com/2017/10/15/vaccines-and-retroviruses-a-whistleblower-reveals-what-the-government-is-hiding/  They estimate that nearly 20 million Americans are affected by retroviral contamination from vaccines leading to illnesses like chronic fatigue syndrome, autism, cancer, and Alzheimer’s.  Dr. Klinghardt, a leading LLMD, significant improvement in chronic illness is seen when retroviruses are death with:  https://madisonarealymesupportgroup.com/2018/06/23/the-role-of-retroviruses-in-chronic-illness-a-clinicians-perspective/

Do we really want chimeric mice too?

According to Rene Anand, CEO and founder of Neurxstem (DBA NeuRenaisson Inc), this is:

“Scientifically illogical and a waste of money. These will be “fruit pudding” hybrid immune systems. The fallacy lacking quantitative thinking of how immune systems form to begin with. Worse still it will create a new conduit to “humanize” rodent infectious diseases and break tropism barriers (like all such hybrid experiments – with pigs, chickens, etc ongoing). Expect another “Hanta” virus-like epidemic eventually. Amazing incompetence and lack of ethics for long term consequences. OMG have scientists stop thinking altogether anymore?” (From Linkedin)

I couldn’t have stated it better.

Police raid scientists who discovered new vaccine dangers

by Jon Rappoport

June 7, 2018

—Two scientists discover that vaccines are contaminated, in the manufacturing process, with many small particles of metals that are toxic to humans when injected. Alarming.

The published research is ignored. Then the scientists are raided by police.

James Grundvig, at GreenMedInfo.com and the World Mercury Project, reports (3/17/18):

“Last week, the Italian police raided the home and of Drs. Antonietta Gatti and Stefano Montanari. The police snatched all of the digital assets owned by the husband and wife team of nanopathologists, grabbing laptops, computers, and flash-drives—and with it, years of work and research.”

“Because Gatti and Montanari had taken their research of nanodust and nanoparticles…to what unseen contamination might reside in vaccines in 2016, they came under the microscope of the United States, European, and Italian authorities. They had touched the third rail of medicine. They had crossed the no-go zone with the purported crime being scientific research and discovery. By finding nano-contamination in random vaccines, Gatti and Montanari revealed, for the first time, what no one knew: Vaccines had more than aluminum salts adjuvants, Polysorbate-80, and other inorganic chemicals in them, they also harbored stainless steel, tungsten, copper, and other metals and rare elements that don’t belong in shots given to fetuses, pregnant women, newborns, babies and toddlers developing their lungs, immune and nervous systems.”

“When the scientists published their findings in January 2017, ‘New Quality‐Control Investigations on Vaccines: Micro‐ and Nanocontamination,’ the logical next step for the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) should have been to open an investigation into their claims, hire independent scientists to run their own lab tests to confirm or refute the findings. If confirmed, then the healthcare agencies would enact new policies on safety of the vaccine supply chain, and enforce strict quality control and quality assurance programs.”

“But none of that happened. A year went by. It was cheaper for the authorities to attack the Italian scientists than upset the vaccine gravy train that supports the politicians.”

This is an official form of research: censorship by raiding the researchers.

Note that the two Italian scientists weren’t simply testing a batch of one vaccine from one manufacturer. There were looking at random vaccines.

Suppose this chilling disaster turns out to be endemic to all vaccine manufacturing?

For the ubiquitous “all vaccines are safe” pronouncement, substitute: “dangerous across the board.”

The Facts About Candida Overgrowth and How to Overcome It

June 28, 2018
candida overgrowth

Anna Hunt, Staff Writer
Waking Times

Candida is an essential fungus, a form of yeast, that lives in the human body. You can find it in the mouth and the intestines. Although it is normal to have some of this fungus in the body, candida can also invade the body beyond what is acceptable. This is called candida overgrowth, and it can have some detrimental health effects.

Candida Overgrowth

Having too much candida in the body can result in several health problems. This includes all types of digestive issues because too much candida can break down the walls of the intestines. In addition, candida overgrowth may cause problems such as depression, lack of energy, and a whole lot of annoying ailments.

When the production of candida in the body is out of control, it can manifest the following problems:

  • Allergies, sensitivities and intolerance to anything or any place that’s damp or moldy.
  • Hay fever and asthma.
  • Higher sensitivity to typical allergens, such as perfumes, smoke, odors, pets, dust, molds, pollen, and other airborne substances.
  • Athletes’ foot or fungus growth on other parts of the body.
  • Low body temperature, resulting on cold hands and feet.
  • Cold-like symptoms, including excessive mucus, as well as flu-like symptoms.
  • Digestive problems, such as constipation, abdominal bloating or pain, acid reflux, and gas.
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus), ear infections, ear aches, and abnormal wax build-up.
  • Fatigue, chronic fatigue and general feeling of being drained of energy.
  • Swollen salivary glands, dryness in the mouth, and swollen lymph nodes.
  • Dry or itchy scalp, dandruff, scalp sores, and hair loss.
  • Headaches, migraines, brain fog, and dizziness.
  • Fungal infections of the skin or nails.
  • Joint stiffness, swelling or pain.
  • Lack of appetite.
  • Nasal congestion, postnasal drip, sinus inflammation or infections.
  • Muscle aches and pains, including numbness and tingling, as well as lack of strength and coordination.
  • Dry skin, acne, hives, itching skin, and rashes, including eczema and psoriasis.
  • Sleep problems, such as frequent waking up and restless sleep, as well as insomnia.

The sad part is that candida overgrowth may be easily mistaken for other illnesses. Therefore, medical professionals often treat the symptoms of candida overgrowth, and not the actual problem of candida.

Why Does Candida Get Out of Control?

One of the biggest culprits in candida overgrowth are antibiotics. These medications wipe out all bacteria, including beneficial bacteria in the digestive system. On the other hand, antibiotics do not affect candida, because it is a fungus. As a result, taking antibiotics can create an imbalance in the body.

Now, if the immune system is strong, it can usually handle the effects of candida overgrowth. Unfortunately, many people have a weakened immune system because the typical western diet lacks the nutrients necessary to maintain strong immune function.

The standard diet consists of lots of carbohydrates, hydrogenated oils, trans-fats, sugar, white flour products, and processed foods. In addition, food growers often treat live foods with pesticides and herbicides. As well, they grow these foods in nutrient-depleted soil and radiate them to extend shelf-live.

Consequently, mainstream food choices do not give us the nutrients and healthy probiotic properties necessary to maintain a healthy immune system. As a result, when candida overgrowth happens, the body frequently starts to break down.

Some other factors that may contribute to candida population growing beyond what is healthy are:

  • A diet high in sugar and refined carbohydrates,
  • Drinking too much alcohol, and
  • A stressful lifestyle.

Simple Home Test

The best way to know for sure if you have candida overgrowth is to see a holistic practitioner. However, you can try the following test at home:

  1. Make sure you conduct this test first thing in the morning, before you eat or drink anything.
  2. Fill a glass with room-temperature, filtered water.
  3. Work up some saliva and spit it into the glass of water.
  4. Wait 30 minutes (you may need to wait up to 60 minutes) and check the saliva. If you see string traveling down into the water from the saliva, or if cloudy saliva has sunk to the bottom of the glass, you may have a candida problem.
What You Should Do to Help with Candida Overgrowth

There is a process that you can follow to control candida overgrowth. The important thing is that you execute the following five steps simultaneously:

1. Eliminate sugary foods that feed candida.

These include foods with sweeteners such as honey and fructose. In addition, you may want to limit the intake of fruits because they are high in sugar.

When buying processed meats, always read the ingredients because many contain sugar. In fact, read the ingredients list for all processed foods. You’ll be surprised just how many contain sweeteners. Of course, don’t forget that alcohol and many drinks, like a chai latte and coffee drinks, also have lots of sugar.

2. Strengthen your immune system.

This requires a healthy diet, high in lean proteins, good fats and low carbohydrates. All the foods you eat should be fresh and as natural as possible. This means limit processed foods so you eat fewer additives, heavy metals, pesticides and other food industry chemicals.

Another step in supporting a healthy immune system is to supplement with essential vitamins and minerals. The best way to understand what supplements you need is to ask your healthcare practitioner to administer a blood test. Some typical supplements that typically help fortify the immune system are:

  • Chlorella, a whole food that has many vitamins and minerals. It helps the body purge heavy metals and pesticides.
  • Vitamin C, one of the biggest immune system boosters. Since we get lots of Vitamin C from fruit, you are more likely to be Vitamin C deficient when limiting fruit intake to eliminate sugar from your diet. Vegetables rich in Vitamin C include kale, spinach, and broccoli.
  • Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that helps the body fight off infection. Foods rich in vitamin E include nuts, seeds and spinach.

3. Kill off candida overgrowth.

The most effective way to start getting rid of excess candida is to fortify your diet with anti-fungal foods. These include the following:

  • Raw garlic, which contains Sulfur compounds with anti-fungal properties. Fresh garlic is most potent, especially if you first crush it and wait about 10 minutes before consuming it. Of course, you can eat the garlic with a meal to conceal the taste. Just keep it raw.
  • Raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar, preferably Bragg brand. It is best to dilute 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a glass of room temperature water. Then, drink 30-60 minutes before a meal.
  • Olive leaf extract, which contains a phenolic compound with antiviral and anti-fungal properties.
  • Pau d’arco, which is sold as a tea or as a capsule supplement.

Remember that taking too many supplements can be a strain on the liver, so always check with your healthcare provider if you plan to take several supplements at one time. The ideal way to supplement is to eat a large variety of organic raw vegetables.

4. Introduce more good bacteria into the digestive system.

It is essential that you re-establish the balance of candida and good bacteria in your body. The best way to do this is by eating foods rich in probiotics, or “friendly” bacteria. These are also called probiotics.

Probiotics are present in foods such as yogurt, sauerkraut, kimchi and kombucha. The best way to get high quality probiotics into your system is to make fermented vegetables at home. Probiotic drinks are also very easy to make at home.

As well, you can buy probiotic supplements with a minimum of 50 billion CFUs (colony forming units). If possible, purchase probiotic supplements that require refrigeration.

5. Stay calm and expect the best results from your healing process.

When your body is already compromised, the last thing you need is stress. Stress on its own can make all the other previous four steps ineffective. In fact, it may have been a culprit in candida overgrowth in the first place.

It is important to utilize several stress relieving techniques during your healing process to help you stay calm. These include exercise, meditation and yoga. Also, don’t forget to have some fun!

Another important aspect of staying stress-free is to take it easy on yourself. Do your best following the steps above, and always be patient and kind to yourself.

Finally, having the right mindset is just as important as following a healthy diet. If you believe that your self-care efforts will pay off in improved health, then that will be your end result. There is a reason why the placebo effect works! The mind is one of the most powerful healing tools, so don’t forget to use it.

If you don’t get to that level your stomach doesn’t catalyze the pancreas to make enzymes, the gallbladder to make bile, and the proper growth of acid loving good bacteria: acidophilus. Betaine HCL is what you need before any other supplements. SIBO is caused by low stomach HCL. Low good bacteria is from low stomach HCL. The right pH needs to be first before anything else.
  2. Estrogen dominance / imbalance. Many people have estrogen higher than testosterone and progesterone. Even excess environmental estrogenic toxins. This causes high insulin and blood sugar levels. High blood sugar is YEAST FOOD!!! Yeast loves sugar. You be come a puffy loaf of bread.
  3. The thyroid!!! The candida likes to grow when the body is not operating at 98.6. When the body is low, like 97.5, the body can’t cook off the pathogens and keep them in check.

In my search for answers I found this:
This chiropractor resolved her candida with this treatment:
  • 1 drop clove essential oil mixed with olive or coconut oil in a capsule in the am and pm (so twice a day)
  • Increase to a maximum dose of 6 drops of clove in oil per capsule twice a day
  • Use for 14 days then take a break for a week or two
  • It might take a few cycles to resolve
  • She noticed a “yeast dump” on day 8 of the first cycle
  • Clove oil is supposedly 75% more effective than Nystatin
  • Make sure you use reputable sources for all ingredients
Please work with your medical practitioner on all treatment suggestions.

GlaxoSmithKline Acquiring a $300 Million Stake in Genetic-Testing Company 23andMe

GlaxoSmithKline acquiring a $300 million stake in genetic-testing company 23andMe

Thanks to a $300 million payout to 23andMe, GlaxoSmithKline will soon have access to hundreds of thousands of people’s DNA. And there’s one reason: money. “On Wednesday, the genetic testing company announced it was entering a partnership with pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) to develop new drugs and therapies. As part of the collaboration, the company will allow GSK to peek at the (voluntarily shared) genetic data of millions of people who have taken 23andMe’s DNA home testing kits.” 1 (Don’t think for one second that this won’t eventually become a privacy issue in the courts.)

Glaxo and Silicon Valley’s 23andMe said they will “tap genetic data to find new drug targets and better select patients for clinical studies”2 and the four-year collaboration deal will grant GSK exclusive rights to drugs developed with the help of 23andMe’s data.

23andMe CEO and co-founder Anne Wojcicki said,

“By working with GSK, we believe we will accelerate the development of breakthroughs. Our genetic research—powered by millions of customers who have agreed to contribute—combined with GSK’s expertise in drug discovery and development, gives us the best chance for success.”3

Customer payouts?

Part of what the company asks of its customers is permission to share their genetic data with outside sources for research purposes, and this is no different. And even if they had originally opted in, customers will be allowed to opt out.

But with the potential monetary windfall, shouldn’t the customers get a piece of the action too? Some ethics experts are certainly advocating for that:

“It’s one thing for NIH to ask people to donate their genome sequences for the higher good,” Peter Pitts, president of the Center for Medicine in the Public Interest, told NBC News. “But when two for-profit companies enter into an agreement where the jewel in the crown is your gene sequence and you are actually paying for the privilege of participating, I think that’s upside-down.” 4

However, as 23andMe uses and “shares its customers’ genetic data after it has been pooled together and stripped of any information that would allow anyone to trace back its origins to a single person,”5 that seems unlikely. Even though recently they asked customers for “added permission to share their individual genetic and self-reported data with outside sources for research,”6 it’s still unlikely that either company will share any of their profits with the very people whose data has made their profits possible. (Keep this in mind, even though 23andMe says your data is stripped of information that would prevent identification, it cannot provide a “100 percent guarantee that your data will be safe in the event of a breach.” 7)

Potential Insurance Woes

There are also concerns among experts about data leaks from genetic testing companies like 23andMe that might allow insurance companies to screen out people with risky or less than ideal genes. And they already have FDA permission to “explicitly market tests that promise to inform customers of their genetic risk for up to ten different diseases and conditions” and this last March they got approval for “a test that can tell people about their risk for breast cancer, based on the BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene.”8

Again, 23andMe has promised it will never intentionally share any “sensitive information” but I trust that about as much as I trust Snopes to be the arbiter of truth. And the company is already selling off other forms of data (like survey results) so it certainly seems plausible.

(Topic starts at 1:20)
The partnership between GSK and 23andMe will initially focus on an experimental treatment targeting a protein shown to increase the risk of developing Parkinson’s, thanks to 23andMe’s data on Parkinson’s patients, and should be able to get to the clinical trial phase much faster than if GSK had to find patients on their own. Something the pharma company sees as critical to their future strategy.

Hal Barron, a former executive from the biotech firm Genentech, is leading a new strategy that will focus on the immune system, genetics and investment in advanced technologies. Speaking about the new partnership he said,“The idea of pursuing genetically validated targets provides us with an opportunity to have a significantly higher probability of success. It also helps with pace. We’ll be able to do programs faster. So it will help with two or three of the biggest challenges facing our industry.”9

In just over a decade, 23andMe has grown from a mere seller of DNA kits into one of the world’s largest genetic databases. You can bet we will be watching this partnership closely.
