Fluoride – Not What You Think

Fluoridated water is another example of a medical disconnect that needs to be exposed.

MSIDS patients have weak immune systems due to stealth pathogens invading Killer T-Cells which cause the body to attack itself.  We need to hunt to ground everything that is weakening our bodies, and one of those “things” is fluoride.

Hailed by the Centers for Disease Control as one of the top ten public health achievements of the 20th century, water fluoridation is something most of us assume to be safe and effective. But new science has upended this assumption, revealing that fluoride is a developmental neurotoxin and an endocrine disruptor. The CDC tells us that drinking fluoride decreases tooth decay, at best, by 25%. That is one-half to one cavity per person over a lifetime. Is one less cavity worth risking a child’s long-term brain and thyroid health? It’s time to rethink this very old practice.

In OUR DAILY DOSE, filmmaker Jeremy Seifert (GMO OMG) lays out the dangers of water fluoridation informatively and creatively, highlighting the most current research and interviewing top-tier doctors, activists, and attorneys close to the issue. Through thoughtful examination of old beliefs and new science, the film alerts us to the health threat present in the water and beverages we rely on every day. This is an eye-opening look at how we have less control over our health than we may have thought.

“Scientific investigations have revealed that fluoride is an endocrine disrupting chemical, and a developmental neurotoxin that impacts short-term and working memory, and lowers IQ in children.

It has been implicated as a contributing factor in the rising rates of both attention-deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD) and thyroid disease.

Indeed, fluoride was used in Europe to reduce thyroid activity in hyperthyroid patients as late as the 1970s, and reduced thyroid function is associated with fluoride intakes as low as 0.05 to 0.1 mg fluoride per kilogram body weight per day (mg/kg/day).

Children are particularly at risk for adverse effects of overexposure, and in April 2015, the US government admitted that the “optimal” level of fluoride recommended since 1962 had in fact been too high.

As a result, over 40 percent of American teens show signs of fluoride overexposure — a condition known as dental fluorosis. In some areas, dental fluorosis rates are as high as 70 to 80 percent, with some children suffering from advanced forms.

So, for the first time, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) lowered its recommended level of fluoride in drinking water by 40 percent, from an upper limit of 1.2 milligrams per liter (mg/L) to 0.7 mg/L.

The HHS said it will evaluate dental fluorosis rates among children in 10 years to assess whether they were correct about this new level being protective against dental fluorosis.

But just what is the acceptable level of harm in the name of cavity prevention?

A number of studies have shown that children with moderate to severe dental fluorosis score worse on tests measuring cognitive skills and IQ than peers without fluorosis — a clear revelation highlighted in the film, as some still insist that dental fluorosis is nothing more than a cosmetic issue.

As stated, fluoride is a drug, and research into the health effects of fluoride are based on pharmaceutical grade fluoride. However, a majority of water authorities do not even use pharmaceutical grade fluoride; they use hydrofluosilicic acid, or hexafluorosilicic acid — toxic waste products of the phosphate fertilizer industry, which are frequently contaminated with heavy metals such as arsenic, mercury, cadmium, lead, and other toxins.

This is a key point that many fluoride proponents fail to address when arguing for its use.”

Interestingly, 97% of Western European countries have stopped or have never fluoridated their water and have seen the exact same reduction in dental cavities as the U.S., proving it’s not fluoride doing the work here.

The best way to prevent cavities is by eating real, fresh food, avoiding sugar and processed food, getting plenty of omega -3 fats, and keeping the mouth clean.

Lyme or Arthritis?

http://jbjs.org/content/98/9/721  A new study in the May 4 issue of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery reviewed the records of 189 patients under age 18 who presented to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) with excess fluid in the knee between 2005 and 2013. Of these patients, 23 had culture-positive septic arthritis; 26, culture-negative septic arthritis; and 140, Lyme disease or 74% of the total children included.

It also identified four symptoms that are predictive of septic arthritis, which is considered a medical emergency requiring surgical irrigation (flushing) and drainage to prevent rapid and irreversible destruction of the cartilage surrounding the knee.

Knee pain with a short range of motion
A C-reactive protein (CRP test; used to measure inflammation) of >4.0 mg/L
Fever
Age younger than 2

“The probability of septic arthritis with any one factor present was 18 percent compared to 100 percent will all four factors present,” said study author Wudbhav N. Sankar, MD, an orthopaedic surgeon at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. “Our study offers a useful prediction algorithm to help distinguish septic arthritis from a knee effusion caused by Lyme disease in children.”

Lyme disease, on the other other-hand, is treated with antibiotics.  In addition to knee swelling and pain, both conditions may cause a fever, swelling of other joints, irritability and an inability to bear weight on the affected extremity. Common laboratory tests to measure inflammation, as well as white blood cell counts, also may be elevated.

It would be prudent to take the child through various checklists as MSIDS (multi systemic infectious disease syndrome or Lyme with friends) is a clinical diagnosis as the tests often come back negative for Lyme (borrelia) as well as the various coinfections; however, children are often not perceptive about what they are feeling physically in their body and/or they have a difficult time relaying verbally.  This is where parents need to be their child’s advocate, do the reading and understand the concepts, and fight for your child.  A person’s chances are always better if MSIDS is caught early.

Statins Against Lyme

http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/releases/310138.php  According to a new study co-authored by Janakiram Seshu, associate professor of biology at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), statins can reduce borrelia in mice due to inhibiting an enzyme required for its cell wall.

It won’t completely eliminate LD, but it has the potential to reduce the numbers of new cases.  Seshu and his graduate students are now turning their efforts to understand how statins can be modified to affect the survival of borrelia.  Their hope is to reduce organisms which can block transmission to where LD doesn’t affect people significantly.

In our hope for a cure it appears we are quite willing to throw the baby out with the bath water – to our own demise.

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/07/20/the-truth-about-statin-drugs-revealed.aspx  According to Mercola, statins deplete your body of CoQ10, impair the function of all sterols, including cholesterol and vitamin D, all your sex hormones, cortisone, and the dolichols which are needed to keep healthy membranes.  It is also classified as a Category X medication which means it can cause serious birth defects.

Statins are HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors which block the enzyme in your liver responsible for making cholesterol.  There is currently over 900 studies proving adverse effects ranging from muscle problems to increased risk for cancer.

Reported side effects:

Muscle problems including nerve damage and degeneration

Anemia

Acidosis

Sexual dysfunction

Immune depression

Cataracts

Pancreas or liver dysfunction

Memory Loss

On top of all of this, statins have been shown to increase the risk for diabetes.  And, by causing increased insulin resistance, there is chronic inflammation, the bedrock of most diseases, including heart disease which ironically is the primary reason many take statins in the first place.  Statins promote belly fat, high blood pressure, heart attacks, chronic fatigue, thyroid disruption, and diseases like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and cancer.

They also injure adult stem cells in culture, the mitochondria of cells, and motor nerve cells.  http://www.regenexx.com/statin-drugs-beat-up-nerve-cells/

Most of these side effects are already experienced by the MSIDS patient (multi systemic infectious disease syndrome – or Lyme with friends).  Why on earth would we want to knowingly promote damage in our bodies?!

In this case, the poison is as bad as the disease.

I say, “Head back to the drawing board!”

A three-day conference in Ottawa with politicians, patients and scientists will attempt to determine a national framework for how Lyme Disease is dealt with in Canada.  So far patients have been excluded from discussions about how the disease should be handled, but this topic will be discussed at the conference.

Currently, many Canadians with Lyme Disease have to travel to the U.S. to get proper treatment.
