April Support Group Meeting

Our next meeting will be April 1 from 2:30-4:30pm at the Pinney Library in Madison.  Our speakers both work at Serenity Health in Waukesha, WI.  They will be discussing LDA treatment in relation to Lyme/MSIDS.

  Sonja Hinz is a graduate of Marquette University with a Bachelor’s of Science in nursing, and has worked in various capacities with children who have disabilities since she was an adolescent. Currently she is seeing patients at Serenity Health Clinic in collaboration with Dr. Muth and Dr. Greg Brown.

Sonja has extensive clinical experience having worked as a nurse for 24 years in both the mainstream medical and the complimentary medical approach to treatment. With her son, Alex’s diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder over thirteen years ago, Sonja was compelled to reevaluate her beliefs and knowledge in traditional medicine. Through the use of therapeutic dietary intervention, biomedical treatments and other therapies, Alex has made a recovery.

Sonja Hintz writes and lectures about biomedical treatment for children with autism. She and her son both authored a chapter in the book titled Vaccine Epidemic. She has lectured in both the United States and Canada about medical care for children diagnosed with autism.

  Amy Hoffman received her Master of Science degree in Nursing from Marquette University in 2013. With an advanced degree in nursing and a degree in psychology, Amy has an understanding of the importance of psychological health impacting physical health.

Amy is a board certified Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP*) who joined Serenity Health Care Center as a holistic practitioner. After working in ICU Amy noticed that the patients were being treated based on their symptoms and not as a whole person. Amy sought to treat patients as individuals who had unique physical, psychological, and spiritual needs instead of as individual symptoms.

Amy offers a variety of services for adults including medical and psychological diagnostic evaluation and treatment using the most effective holistic protocol. Her focus is on preventing the onset of chronic disease.

Amy is excited to advance her knowledge in integrative medicine and implement new modalities and treatment protocols that are being taught by groups like A4M, ACAM, and AAEM.

She has a passion for working with women and preventing age related diseases through the use of bio-identical hormone replacement therapy as well as the role the environment plays on our health. Amy has had the pleasure of being trained by the best hormones practitioners in the industry; Dr. Jonathan Wright, Pam Smith, Ron Rothenberg and Terry Hertoghe.

***We will also have a regular support meeting Saturday, April 29 from 2:30-4:30 to share ideas.  Come with all your questions and what’s been working for you.

**Please note where you can park:  east-dist-parking-visitor-parking.  The red area is off-limits.  You can park in the visitor parking notated in yellow as well as in the row beneath red and in the grass in-between the light poles located beneath the last line of vehicles.  We can also park along the edges of the parking lot.  

Keith’s talk will be on MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome) and parasites, both of which many with Lyme/MSIDS have to contend with.

March Lyme Support Meeting

Our next Lyme Support Meeting will be Saturday, March 11 from 2:30-4:30pm at the East Madison Police Station Community room at 809 S Thompson Drive, Madison, WI.  The doors will automatically lock at 3:30pm.

Our speaker will be Rebecca Keith, Family Nurse Practitioner.

Keith obtained both her undergrad and graduate degrees from the College of St Scholastica in Duluth, MN. Having spent most of her life in Wisconsin and actively enjoying the outdoors, ticks and insects are no strangers to her. Rebecca began paying more attention to Lyme and co-infections by 2008. After experiencing success in treating patients she opened her practice in 2010. Rebecca primarily sees patients in Minong, WI. She has satellite offices in Menomonie, WI where she travels monthly and Pewaukee, WI where she travels bi-monthly. Rebecca is a member of ILADS, Lymedisease.org, and the American Acadamy of Nurse Practitioners. She utilizes integrative medical approaches in treating Lyme and the multi system dysfunction which accompanies it.
