“..when it comes to his books and public persona, he also has a famously take-no-prisoners approach. “I dig so deeply in my research,” Gøtzsche said, “that I find the skeletons people have buried down there. And when I put them up on the ground people yell and scream, and call me all sorts of names, because they didn’t think anybody would ever find the skeletons.”
It started with Gøtzsche’s 2012 book on mammography, a recap of the research and controversies attendant to his decade-plus campaign against breast cancer screening. Gøtzsche’s view was, and still is, controversial. His public profile rose a year later with his next book, “Deadly Medicines and Organized Crime.” It excoriated the pharmaceutical industry, likening its tactics (bribes, kickbacks, serial fraud) to those of the mob.” (See link for article)
I’ve written about Gotzsche before when the Cochrane collaboration board, by a narrow majority, ended his membership, despite being a founding member. Then, four board members promptly resigned in protest. The trouble started brewing for Gotzsche when he spoke out against a favorable Cochrane analysis of the HPV vaccine because he felt it overlooked side effects. https://madisonarealymesupportgroup.com/2018/11/09/cochrane-no-longer-a-collaboration/
“PEOPLE AVOID AN HONEST ACADEMIC DEBATE. INSTEAD THEY REVERT TO AUTHORITIED INFORMATION AND BULL S _ _ _ , WHICH MEANS SOMETHING THAT IS SHORT OF LYING.” PETER GOTZSCHE
Whistleblowers should be listened to, not smeared. It takes a lot to go against the tide, especially in research where there’s a lot of power and money behind the scenes.
The world needs more Peter Gotzsche’s.
