As most of you know, May is Lyme Awareness Month.  It’s a month of spreading the word about a disease(s) that can take your life and everything you have.  Lying flat on my back all week with the virus from hell, I’ve pondered the best way to spread the word.  You know what it is?  You.  Your story.  Your part in this dance told by you to others.  Never underestimate the power your story has.  Don’t be afraid to open up and tell others what Lyme/MSIDS is, what it has cost you, and how to get help.

Under Our Skin is a documentary that does just that.  It collects patient stories and presents them honestly and with a bareness that exposes this travesty that has descended on far too many people.  It saved my life.  It also shows doctors on the front lines who are taking great risks in treating us.  If you haven’t seen it, do.  If you haven’t shown it to somebody, do.  Only we the people are going to move this mountain.

UNDER OUR SKIN celebrates its 10th anniversary after its premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in May 2008. The film went on to a limited theatrical release, national television broadcast and Academy Award semifinalist honors. We wanted to know how the landscape of Lyme disease has changed over these past ten years. Lorraine Johnson, CEO of LymeDisease.org tells producer/director Andy Abrahams Wilson how the film was “pivotal in terms of cracking open public awareness.” www.underourskin.com
