Tick and mosquito transmitted health issues is the topic of discussion when host Dr. Eugene Zampieron, ND , AHG, www.drznaturally.com, interviews Dr. Christine Horner, MD.
Christine Horner, MD is a nationally known surgeon, professional speaker and author of Waking the Warrior Goddess: Dr. Christine Horner’s Program to Protect Against and Fight Breast Cancer, and Radiant Health Ageless Beauty.
She holds two board certifications, including the National Board of Surgery. Dr. Horner was recognized as a leader in her field shortly after starting her reconstructive surgery practice because she successfully ran a national campaign to pass laws requiring insurance companies to pay for breast reconstruction surgery following mastectomy. Her campaign involved several meetings with President Clinton and other political figures.
On today’s show, Dr Horner discusses lyme and other tick born and mosquito born diseases, which are on the rise!
She will emphasize
- facts, obstacles, prevention strategies and treatments so you can avoid being sidelined by Lyme disease.
She will also share
- specific nutrients that are scientifically shown to help boost your immune system and restore cellular health if your condition turns chronic with Lyme disease (CoQ10, magnesium, B-complex vitamins, AHCC, omega-3, vitamin D3).

After 8 weeks of supplementation, patients experienced a significant reduction in inflammation as measured by two separate blood tests (ESR and Interleukin-8). 11 of the 12 patients experienced an amelioration of flu-like symptoms and 10 patients experienced less joint and muscle manifestations. All three patients who tested positive for serum IgM antibodies at baseline were negative following treatment.
Not to be a nay-sayer, but please note this was an extremely small study of 12 people. We have no idea what they if they had anything besides Lyme, how long they were infected, and a host of other issues that are important to know.
Lyme patients are as different as plants in the field.
I’m not saying it isn’t worth a try. What I am saying is I take issue with this idea that it’s the patient’s fault they got ill. I don’t believe that for a second. I’ve known numerous patients, myself included, who were healthy as horses before becoming infected. We had great diets, exercised, blah, blah, blah. I do not believe taking a mushroom extract is going to be the sole thing that keeps people from becoming ill. There are numerous variables that affect treatment outcome.
For some of those variables, please see: https://madisonarealymesupportgroup.com/2016/03/20/why-we-cant-get-better/
I highly recommend Dr. Horowitz’s book but please know that he goes into detail and it can be overwhelming if you are struggling with brain fog or memory loss.
For a brief interview on a AHCC clinical trial for HPV:
As pointed out by Dr. Judith A. Smith, the associate professor in UTHealth :
“We’ve been focusing our HPV research on finding a treatment for this infection because of the frustration we see in patience when are diagnosed with HPV but there’s nothing we can do. All we can do is monitor the early signs of cancer. We need to find an effective treatment for HPV before it turns into cancer.
We’ve been evaluating the safety and efficacy of AHCC with chemotherapy for over a decade. AHCC is a nutritional supplement with no known side effect that modulate the immune system to kill a compaction as well as inhibit tumor growth.”
A phase 2 randomized double-blind trial on AHCC efficacy in HPV treatment is getting underway since March 2015 by Dr Judith Smith, to investigate at some point if AHCC can actually prevent infection/re-infection by building up the immune system to the point of resisting infection with HPV.
The estimated completion date of this AHCC HPV phase 2 study is December 2018:
